I wanna stock the 240 or 135....

Postby zk » Sun Aug 23, 2009 12:48 pm

Greetings fellow cichlidiots. I have a list of fish and 2 large tanks to fill. I need help deciding which are the best suited to play nicely together and would look the best in what are going to be show tanks only. Spawning is NOT a priority, for i have nowhere to house the fry. Fry would be free food for those tankmates who chose to eat free live food.

Vieja Regani, Tomocichla Asfraci, Thorichthys Meekii, Hypsophrys Nicaraguensis, Archocentrus Multispinosus.

The Nics are definite stock idea.. the others are fill-in. I have either the 240 OR the 135, not both. The other tank will be left open for something Vic, Malwaian or SA. For reference the 240 is an 8x2x2 and the 135 is the 6' version.

Thanks for all the help and advice.

A cool fish to add in would be Vieja synspilum. A few of my fish friends around here have them and they are absolutely stunning! They keep them in species tanks for breeding purposes, so I do not really have an idea of what to put with them, but I would think any larger centrals would work. Probably wouldn't work well as you are already planning a Vieja in the larger tank, but would make a cool centerpiece fish for the 6' tank.

Not planning another CA tank when i possibly only have 2 tanks to work with. I'll probably do a malawian tank in the 2nd one.

Rainbows are really peaceful. Firemouths can be downright terrors. If you are staying with the Nic (4 sure), i'd hold with your first two choices and maybe a Uaru
Kimura realized that mutations that
were (nearly) neutral at the time of fixation were not indifferent
to evolution. On the contrary, such mutations
comprised the pool of variation that can be tapped into
by natural selection under changed conditions
